Awesome Affordable Ostomy Pouch Covers

Wanda Thurston Drews is amazing when it comes to making durable pouch covers for a great price! You get your first two pouches free of charge then 2 pouches for $5, 4 for $10, etc. She also makes masks and hair scrunchies and sells them as a set with a pouch for only $7.50 and everything is great quality and comfortable. Wanda also ships for free, as she has a mission from God to help ostomates, and her Facebook page Sha-Rey Customized Covers, is named after her brother and sister. She and her siblings all had a portion of their colons removed and her brother had to get an ostomy bag. Wanda has such talent and I greatly recommend her products to others. I ordered my two free pouch covers plus a set with mask and scrunchie that I am featuring in this blog post; I love them so much that I ordered another set and will definitely order more in the future. I love the white lace pouch, can't really see it under this lacey shirt and I am able to wear my bag outside my shorts for summer comfort

Day 30 of the 30 Day Running Challenge!!

 I did it, I completed my 30 days of running. It took longer than I had planned through life challenges, stoma complications  and sickness...but in the end I think it works out better when pacing oneself rather than racing through everything, possibly enduring injury, potentially increasing sickness and complications, fighting fatigue or even just not enjoying the journey. I started slow and one mile at a time, worked my way up to three miles and even increased my time, worked in speed runs and intervals.  I am now enjoying running again, am comfortable in my body and it feels good to get out there and run. I no longer feel as if I'm dying after only one mile, even in the heat and humidity. Now a mile, which used to be a tough workout, is a nice easy warm up or cool down. It's feels incredible how far I've come these past few months; I'm glad I did this running challenge as it kept me accountable to get out there and keep it up. I Still Feel Like a Sloth!

 The original title of this blog post was going to be: "Finally! I no longer feel like a sloth!" However, I was planning this post 3/23/2021 (exactly 4 months after my original ileostomy surgery, the birth of Bob). I had been working night shift as a radiographer for five years prior to this surgery and it never got easier so I was pretty much always tired even on my days off. I worked three 12 hour nights and one 4 hour morning shift per week and on my days off would rotate to day shift to live a "normal" life. Coming off two months of medical leave I had a lifting restriction and went to a sedentary job for six months to give myself more time to heal. After two months working night shift in the new department I was able to transfer to day shift and, with this change, I was sure to immediately feel alive again. Day 29! 30 Day Running Challenge

 I am writing this nine days late and have not run again since Wednesday last week. After this last run I came down with a nasty cold and am still fighting against it. Having not been sick with a cold or flu in over a year, and the past week being so ill with sore throat, body aches, cough, laryngitis, low grade fever, I had gotten a COVID-19 test at work last weekend...at least it was negative! Anyway, I have basically been in bed all week, aside from cleaning my house, mowing the front lawn, doing laundry and of course taking Spot for his daily walks. I have not been running, swimming or working out and cannot wait to be fully recovered so I can get back out there!  Anyway, this run was the day before I started having the cold symptoms though I was feeling tired and unable to sprint as fast as I had been.
